Nikki Nous>>Nicole Fonzo
Nikki Nous (pronounced noose), is a Jersey Shore artist who enjoys working with many mediums, mainly focusing on acrylic paintings. Convinced we are all souls having a human experience, she uses her intuition to guide her creations. Utilizing the arts, painting helps her navigate earthly lessons and understand that life happens for us and not to us. Nous' passion for nature aids in assembling her artistic 'downloads', usually involving the human form and natural elements. Her expressions with paint are a therapy not just for herself but also by others who are captivated by her work.
Nous, a word found to be used in philosophical texts, means “the mind or intellect”. Known to her loved ones as Nicole Fonzo, Nikki Nous is a pseudonym chosen to fully encompass her creative pursuits.. the name meaning ‘The mind of Nikki’.
Growing up I’ve always had an insatiable drive to create and find meaning. Much of my life I have used art more as a therapy than an exercise in aesthetics. Painting is a form of meditation for me. A way of slowing down to process daily life and discover the unconscious mind by allowing the mind to ‘see’ rather than think, and then render. Much of my work is an expression of emotion, helping navigate and better understand life’s experiences.
I am a self taught artist primarily working in acrylics but I have explored many avenues of creation and will not shy away from discovering talents in new mediums. I am always willing to take on a challenge, understanding growth comes from the process of breaking out of our comfort zones. Mediums I have explored besides my love for acrylic painting are as follows: pen & ink illustration, watercolor, jewelry design, mixed media, crafting and digital art.
Currently most of my work is created through acrylic painting and digital artwork with use of an Ipad and Ipencil in the program Procreate.
